WordCamp Rajasthan

October 2026 is one of the most active months in the WordPress ecosystem this year. A critical security and maintenance release landed earlier this month; the biggest WordPress release of the year is just days away; the Indian WordPress community came together at WordCamp Rajasthan in Jaipur; and key event management plugins pushed significant updates. Here is everything you need to know.

WordPress 7.1.3: Security & Maintenance Release — Update Now

WordPress 7.1.3 was released on October 6, 2026. The WordPress Security Team strongly recommends updating immediately because this release addresses seven security vulnerabilities, some of which are serious.

What’s Fixed in WordPress 7.1.3?

  • Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) on the Comments admin screen — could allow lower-privilege users to inject scripts visible to admins
  • SQL injection issue in the WXR export function — affects export of content via Tools → Export
  • 4 additional security patches across core REST API and media handling
  • 4 bug fixes for editor and block rendering issues reported since WordPress 7.1.2 (released September 22)

This is a drop-in security update — it introduces no new features, only fixes. All XylusThemes plugins (WP Event Aggregator, Import Facebook Events, Import Eventbrite Events, Import Meetup Events, WP Bulk Delete, Easy Events Calendar, Event Schema, and XT Feed for LinkedIn) are fully compatible with WordPress 7.1.3.

💡 How to update: Dashboard → Updates → click “Update to WordPress 7.1.3”. Takes under 60 seconds on most hosts. Always back up your site first.

WordPress 7.2: The Final Major Release of 2026 — Coming October 20

WordPress 7.2 is scheduled for release on October 20, 2026 — the final major WordPress release of 2026. It brings meaningful new features, block editor improvements, and a brand-new default theme.

What to Expect in WordPress 7.2

  • New default theme — ships with WordPress 7.2, replacing Twenty Twenty-Five on new installations
  • Block Editor enhancements — improved block patterns, updated navigation block, new spacing/sizing controls
  • Performance improvements across the REST API and block rendering pipeline
  • Accessibility improvements following WCAG 2.2 guidelines
  • Full Site Editing improvements — more block theme patterns out of the box

XylusThemes is actively testing all plugins against the WordPress 7.2 release candidates. Full WordPress 7.2 compatibility confirmation will be published on October 20.

💡 Tip: Use a staging site to test WordPress 7.2 RC before it goes live on your production site. Most managed hosts (WP Engine, SiteGround, Cloudways) offer one-click staging.

WordCamp Rajasthan 2026: Jaipur’s WordPress Community Comes Together

WordCamp Rajasthan 2026 took place on October 3–4 at the Rajasthan International Centre, Jaipur, India. It was one of the most well-attended community WordCamps in India this year — covering WordPress development, AI integration, open source contribution, and the future of the web platform.

Event Highlights

  • October 3 — Contributor Day: Developers, designers, translators, and documentation contributors gathered to contribute directly to WordPress core, themes, and plugins
  • October 4 — Main Conference: Full day of talks covering Gutenberg/FSE deep dives, AI and WordPress, WooCommerce performance, and local WordPress business case studies
  • Key sponsors included Elicus (official technology partner) and leading Indian WordPress agencies
  • Sessions ranged from beginner-friendly WordPress fundamentals to advanced PHP and JavaScript for plugin development

Why WordCamp Rajasthan Matters for the Event Industry

WordCamp Rajasthan 2026 featured dedicated sessions on event management in WordPress — directly relevant to organizers using plugins like WP Event Aggregator, The Events Calendar, and Modern Events Calendar. Discussions included best practices for event schema markup, multi-source event aggregation, and using AI to automate event content.

The XylusThemes plugin suite — especially WP Event Aggregator and Import Facebook Events — was referenced in multiple sessions as a go-to solution for WordPress-based event website management in the South Asia market.

Event Calendar Plugin Updates: October 2026

The Events Calendar: Version 6.18.0

The Events Calendar by StellarWP reached version 6.18.0 in October 2026, confirmed compatible with WordPress 7.1.3 and PHP 8.x.

  • Improved REST API endpoints for event data — useful for headless WordPress setups
  • Updated compatibility layer for WooCommerce 9.x ticket integration
  • Performance improvements in the event block rendering pipeline
  • Bug fixes for recurring event display in calendar views

Modern Events Calendar: Appointment Management Feature

Modern Events Calendar (by Webnus) confirmed appointment management as a native premium feature this year — positioning MEC as a combined event calendar + booking solution, particularly useful for workshops, consultations, and training sessions.

WP Event Aggregator: Compatibility Confirmed

XylusThemes’ flagship plugin WP Event Aggregator is fully tested and compatible with WordPress 7.1.3. All import sources — Eventbrite, Facebook Events, Meetup.com, iCal/ICS feeds, and manual XML/CSV imports — function correctly on the 7.1.x release branch.

Industry Watch: WordPress & Events Ecosystem — October 2026

AI in WordPress Event Management

AI integration into WordPress event workflows is accelerating in 2026:

  • AI-generated event descriptions from structured data (date, speaker, topic → full event post) via GPT-4o API + ACF or custom meta fields
  • Automated event schema generation — Event Schema plugin outputs structured JSON-LD; AI is being used to populate schema fields automatically
  • Chatbots on event websites (Intercom, Tidio) answering questions about schedules, speakers, and ticket availability
  • AI image generation for event banner images is becoming standard in event organizer workflows

Google Event Rich Results: Still Valuable in 2026

Google continues to show event rich results in Search — including event carousels for queries like “events in Jaipur this weekend”. Properly structured event schema is one of the highest-ROI SEO investments for event-based WordPress sites. Event Schema plugin adds this to any WordPress site in minutes.

Headless WordPress for Events

Headless WordPress (WordPress as a backend CMS with a decoupled front-end in Next.js or Nuxt.js) is increasingly used for high-traffic event websites. The Events Calendar’s improved REST API in v6.18.0 makes it more headless-friendly. WP Event Aggregator works in headless setups via the REST API for event data access.

What’s Coming: November 2026

  • WordPress 7.2 release and full compatibility updates from all major plugin developers — October 20
  • WordCamp Asia 2027 venue announcement expected in November
  • The Events Calendar major feature release planned for Q4 2026
  • XylusThemes November article series: event SEO, AI-powered event sites, and 2027 planning guides
