How to Import Events into the Listeo Theme (Eventbrite, Facebook, Meetup and iCal)

Listeo is a favourite for directory sites with bookings and listings. Adding events to it makes the site more useful, because visitors can find things to do alongside the places and services you already list. The catch is the effort. Every event needs its own listing, with a title, dates, an address, a map position and an image, and creating them one by one takes time.

The WPEA Listeo Addon lets WP Event Aggregator do the typing. It brings events from Eventbrite, Facebook, Meetup and iCal into Listeo as event listings, with the details placed in the fields Listeo uses. The addon documentation is a handy second reference.

What Your Visitors Will See

Each imported event becomes a Listeo listing with the event listing type. Visitors get:

  • The event title and description.
  • The event image, shown as the listing image and in its gallery.
  • The start and end date and time, and the timezone.
  • The venue name and full address, with a map position when the source provides coordinates.
  • The event category you chose when importing.
  • A link to the original event page in the listing’s website field.

What You Need

If something is missing, the addon shows a notice in your dashboard that tells you what to install or activate.

Setup in Three Steps

Step 1: Activate your license

Go to WP Event Aggregator → Listeo Theme Addon License and enter your license key so the addon can receive updates.

Step 2: Connect your source

Open WP Event Aggregator → Settings and connect the source you plan to use. Eventbrite, Facebook and Meetup each need a quick connection, such as a token or app credentials. iCal needs none. The WP Event Aggregator documentation explains each one.

Step 3: Choose Listeo as the destination

Open the import tab for your source and find Import Into. Select Listeo Theme, pick an event category and a status, and run the import. Imported events arrive as pending unless you choose another status, so you can review them first.

Where Can the Events Come From?

  • Eventbrite by Event ID, Organizer ID or Collection ID
  • Facebook by Event ID or Facebook Page
  • Meetup by Event ID or Group URL
  • iCal from an .ics file, an iCal URL or an Outlook Calendar
  • CSV, XML and JSON files using the file import in WP Event Aggregator Pro

For sources you want to follow over time, choose a scheduled import and set it to run hourly, twice daily, daily, weekly or monthly.

After the Import: A Two-Minute Review

Open Listings in your dashboard and check one imported event:

  1. Dates and timezone. Make sure they match the source.
  2. Address and map. Confirm the pin is in the right place.
  3. Category and image. Check that the event is in the right category and the image looks good.
  4. Featured and verified badges. Imported events are marked as featured and verified listings, so remove those on any events you do not want highlighted.
  5. Status. Publish the events once you are happy.

Good to Know

  • Each import creates single events. Repeating events from a source are not set up as repeating events in Listeo.
  • Organizer details (name, email and website) are stored with the event, but Listeo does not show them on the page automatically.
  • Without Update existing events turned on for the source, events already on your site are skipped when you import again. Turn it on if you want changes at the source to come through.
