IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Facebook has restricted access of Events in API from 4th April due to recent Privacy issue. They have new policy & rules to get Event data, We are working with updated process and making our plugin compatible to it.  Once plugin is updated we will come up with updated plugin & pricing. Here is Facebook post for same.

“Existing customer need to wait till we launch updated version of plugin. New customer on hold till we launch updated plugin with new price”

Existing Customers
————————————————————–
We are working on it to make updates in plugin and get compatible to new policy. As Facebook has stopped all app so you will not be able to fetch any Facebook Events. Once updated version is ready you will get it without no additional cost.  As in process we required approval from Facebook so we are not able to commit on time but we are expecting time of 1 week approx based on our understanding.

Old Blog Post
—————————————–
Due to latest changes made by the Facebook in there API Data Access most of the newly created Apps wont be authorized and needs manual review by Facebook to get any data from the Facebook and this is the reason why some of our customers who purchased our plugin recently and created Facebook apps are not able to import events in the plugin. As this is out of our control and we will need to wait for Facebook’s changes and announcements about the data access permission. More official announcement by the Facebook here: https://newsroom.fb.com/news/2018/03/cracking-down-on-platform-abuse/

Recently Some of our customers and other people who using Facebook API to fetch Facebook Event from Facebook and show on website are facing below error. Here are details why its happening.

(#200) Access to this data is temporarily disabled for non-active accounts due to changes we are making to the Facebook Platform

What is issue?
This error is due to recent action taken by Facebook. They said  ” Access to certain types of API data is paused for non-active accounts due to changes we are making to the Facebook Platform”  So if your account is non-active and you have created App using it then it might possible you get this error in your Plugin.  Facebook Issue link is here.

Why Facebook Done this?
Recently Facebook data has been misused so they are cracking down on such inactive account. They will make account more secure and enable access.

Cambridge Analytica issue is behind this action. Here is Mark Zuckerberg post about same.  Also its in media here.

What about existing App users?
Most of active App users doesn’t have any issue and import of Facebook events working fine. Some user error wrong app details they are requested to update their Facebook app details as per new norms. They have Oauth URL need to be exact which you can found in our plugin setting area.  Some users need to do facebook re-authorization  by clicking on authorize button in plugin setting area.

When it will resolved?
Facebook has temporarily disabled some non-active accounts as they mentioned they haven’t given any estimated time to fix issue but it should get activated soon.

What to do now?

This is not issue with code or plugin you are using but Facebook has temporary blocked your app.  Very few account has been disabled and expecting resolve soon or find solution for it. So user facing this issue need to wait till further update from Facebook. You can also check status of issue on Facebook here.

  1. Hi Guys!

    Thank you for the updates!

I contacted with Fb via the form on the developer section and the answer was very disappointing:

“Access to Public Events via the API is no longer available.”

“We may be able to allow access to Public events with an user access token (host/attendee) but this is not defined yet.”

So if I understand it correctly, then I will never access to the events if I am not an attendee or a host, will I?
