Putting data into WordPress manually can take up lots of time. I would spend hours at a time copying and pasting over product listings, uploading images and filling in meta data. It was a real headache and one of the reasons why I stopped that line of work ultimately.

Using the free WP Smart Import plugin allows you to import data that are stored in an XML or CSV file. It can be as simple as loading a file into WP All Import, dragging and dropping the information from your file into the appropriate place within WordPress and hitting the import button.

  1. Install  WP Smart Import Plugin.
  2. Activate plugin inside of the WordPress plugins admin area  WP Smart Import.
  3. Upload your listings CSV or XML file.
  4. If you are uploading for the first time select New Items > Create New > Posts.

How To Import An XML Or CSV File Using WP Smart Import

There are three different ways to import a file into WordPress using this plugin. You can upload a file from your hard drive, download a file from a URL, or select existing file on your server.

The file I’ll be using is a simple XML file that contains blog post information. By the end of the tutorial, I will have used the WP Smart Import plugin to import and publish multiple blog posts onto my website.

6.Drag and drop the fields from your CSV or XML file into the appropriate corresponding listing fields.

7.WP Smart Import will create new post for each unique post in XML file.we do that something call Unique book Identifier.you have to enter unique key as per below screen sort.

8.Now you click on Save And Run Import.

 WooCommerce Add-Ons for WP Smart Import

The WooCommerce Add-on  will allow you to import products into your WooCommerce powered store, using the same easy interface that you used with all imports in WP Smart Import.WooCommerce Add-Ons for WP Smart Import import multiple products into your WooCommerce installation. The add-on provides complete support for simple, variable, and affiliate product listings.

The WooCommerce add-on runs on top of the WP Smart Import. To use the add-on, you must have WP Smart Import and Woocommerce installed . The add-on is a separate WordPress plugin. Once you’ve installed WP Smart Import, simply install the add-on like any other WordPress plugin.

This add-on’s interface looks just like WooCommerce. It works just like WooCommerce. It’s almost like manually adding a product in WooCommerce. Except it’s automatic, and lets you add thousands of products at one time.

To import your data, just drag & drop the fields from your XML/CSV to the textboxes in WooCommerce. That’s it.

Importing posts with Categories, Tags, & Taxonomies

WP Smart Import can import to categories, tags, and any custom taxonomies associated with the post type you are importing. When importing to a Post, the default taxonomies are Categories and Tags.

Now you can see above screensort determines the data on xml file is map to the WordPress.Now you can see content Post Categories which set to the Category of the post by clicking on element of book<genre>and drag and drop over categories box of content As per above screensort.

Custom Fields

The WP Smart Import lets you import to data fields created by the Advanced Custom Fields plugin for WordPress.

How to Import Using WP Smart Import

As per above Screensort Price and PublishDate is custom field. You have to do is create custom field of XML file which you have to import.

You can create custom field as per below screensort.

As per below screenshot you can drag and drop the value of price and publish date.

One more thing important is As per above screensort Custom field Key you have to enter same as you have created custom field Field Name.
